As a nation of people who were forced away from our own land, we acknowledge that the construction of the Tamil Heritage centre will be on the traditional territory of many nations including the people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, which is covered under the Williams Treaties. The location for the Tamil Heritage Centre will be situated on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, which includes Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi.
